The T280W and T250W are similar in construction and general appearance but have different external dimensions — they are not interchangeable. Before ordering, measure the diameter and height of the fitted element or check the housing part number against the Hengst catalogue to confirm the correct variant. Installing a slightly undersized element leaves a gap at the housing seal where unfiltered air bypasses the filter media entirely, reaching the turbocharger and engine without filtration — damage from this is irreversible and accumulative. Replace at the service interval defined in the MAN maintenance schedule, or when the air cleaner restriction indicator signals a loaded element. After fitting, inspect the outlet duct clamp for security — a loose clamp downstream of the filter allows unfiltered air ingestion and also causes boost pressure loss on turbocharged applications.
