The T250W sits inside the air cleaner housing and intercepts dust, insects, fine road grit, and abrasive particles before they reach the turbocharger compressor wheel and engine cylinders. What makes air filtration particularly important on turbocharged diesels is that abrasive particles passing a failed element cause progressive, largely silent erosion of the compressor blades — the damage accumulates over thousands of kilometres before manifesting as reduced boost pressure and increased oil consumption. Hengst filter media is rated to OEM filtration efficiency and pressure-drop specifications. Replace at the service intervals set out in the MAN maintenance schedule, or when the restriction indicator on the air cleaner housing triggers a warning.
