MAHLE MS759 starter motor for MAN commercial vehicle diesel engines across a wide range of TGA, TGS, TGX, and TGM platforms equipped with D08, D20, and D26 engines. MAHLE is a tier-1 direct OEM supplier to MAN, manufacturing this starter to the same engineering specification as the original equipment. The starter motor cranks the engine flywheel ring gear at the minimum RPM required to build compression and initiate diesel ignition. Common failure modes include slow cranking (worn brushes or high circuit resistance), clicking without cranking (failed solenoid contacts or low battery voltage), and complete no-crank (open circuit in winding or seized motor). Before replacing the starter, carry out a full battery and charging system test and measure the voltage drop across the starter supply cables under cranking load — high resistance in the cable circuit is a more common cause of slow cranking than a faulty motor. Also test the starter relay and main solenoid activation circuit. If the motor is confirmed faulty, inspect the flywheel ring gear for damage at the same time — a worn ring gear will destroy a new starter rapidly.
