EPDM rubber hose bend for coolant or turbocharger charge-air routing in MAN trucks. The full part designation 57G86/79–23.4/60/25.3 encodes the inlet bore, outlet bore, and bend radius geometry — all three dimensions must match the vehicle's routing exactly for the hose to seat correctly and seal at both ends. EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) is the standard material for coolant circuit hoses because of its resistance to glycol-based coolants, ozone surface cracking, and sustained operating temperatures up to approximately 150°C. Made in Germany. Inspect hose bends at every major service. The failure modes to look for are external surface cracking (early stage, replace at next service), hardening without visible cracking (replace immediately — internal micro-cracking is likely), and swelling or softening (replace immediately — chemical attack from incompatible coolant additive). A failed coolant hose leads to rapid engine overheating; a failed charge-air hose causes immediate boost pressure loss, black smoke, and power reduction. Always use new hose clamps of the correct type and torque specification when refitting.
