Fuel rail pressure limiter valve for MAN common rail diesel engines. Factory-calibrated to open at a defined threshold pressure, this valve provides the last line of overpressure protection for the high-pressure fuel circuit: if the pressure control valve fails to regulate correctly and rail pressure exceeds the safe operating limit, the limiter opens and diverts fuel back to the low-pressure return circuit, protecting the rail, injectors, and high-pressure pump from pressure-induced failure. In normal operation the limiter should never activate — persistent activation indicates a fault in the pressure regulation circuit that must be diagnosed and rectified, typically an electronic pressure control valve fault, a sticking high-pressure pump delivery valve, or a restricted fuel return line. A limiter that opens at too low a pressure causes power loss and P0088 fault codes; one that opens too late or not at all allows destructive overpressure. Replace the valve rather than attempt to adjust or recalibrate it — the setpoint is factory-set and cannot be modified in the field. Before fitting a replacement, inspect the fuel return line for blockage, as restricted return flow is a common root cause of limiter activation.
