Genuine MAN M8×80 mm external hex round bolt in stainless steel grade 1.4980, also known as A286 — a precipitation-hardened austenitic stainless alloy specifically designed for high-temperature fastener applications. Grade 1.4980 maintains its tensile strength and clamp load at sustained temperatures up to 650°C, making it the correct specification for exhaust manifold flanges, EGR pipe connections, turbocharger mounting studs, and DPF bracket fixings where standard carbon steel or even standard stainless bolts would lose clamp load through relaxation or corrode and seize. Made in Germany. Never substitute 1.4980 with standard A2 or A4 stainless in high-temperature applications — the yield strength at elevated temperature is significantly lower, leading to bolt stretch and eventual leak or joint failure. Always use a calibrated torque wrench and follow the MAN workshop manual torque value for the specific joint. Apply anti-seize compound to the threads if specified for that application.
