Genuine MAN crankcase (engine block) for D-series commercial engines. This precision-cast structural housing forms the lower half of the engine assembly, containing the crankshaft main bearing journals, oil passages, and coolant channels. It provides the rigid foundation to which cylinder heads, timing gear housing, front cover, and oil sump are all mounted. This is a major assembly item — installation requires engine stand equipment, specialist tooling, and qualified workshop facilities. Supplied as a bare casting: all auxiliary components including core plugs, main bearing shells, oil pressure relief valves, and oil gallery plugs must be sourced separately or carefully transferred from the outgoing block. Before assembly, clean all oil galleries and coolant passages thoroughly and inspect main bearing bores with a bore gauge — any deviation from MAN's specified tolerance requires line-boring. Inspect thread inserts in the head bolt bores and replace any that are damaged. Verify that all casting codes and geometry match the outgoing unit before committing to assembly.
