WABCO desiccant cartridge for truck air dryers on MAN TGA, TGS, TGX, TGM, and related platforms. The air dryer sits downstream of the compressor and removes water vapour, oil aerosol, and other contaminants from compressed air before it enters the multi-circuit protection valve and the individual brake and suspension circuits. The desiccant granules absorb moisture during compressor charging cycles and are regenerated by a reverse flow of dried air during the purge cycle. Dry compressed air is essential to prevent corrosion inside air reservoirs and the internal passages of ABS modulators, load-sensing valves, and relay valves — all of which are expensive to replace and difficult to access for inspection. Replace every 2 years or 200,000 km under normal conditions; in regions with high ambient humidity or where the vehicle operates in coastal environments, annual replacement is recommended. The cartridge must be replaced if the air dryer is purging excessively, if moisture is found in any circuit reservoir, or after any compressor failure that may have allowed oil to contaminate the desiccant bed. Always drain all air reservoirs completely and depressurise the system before beginning cartridge replacement.
